A milking table is one of those products that looks simple but rewards a bit of first-time guidance. The setup is quick, most people have it ready in under five minutes, but small adjustments to height, positioning, and privacy make a significant difference in comfort and experience.

This guide covers everything: what a milking table actually is, how to assemble and adjust it, the best positions to use it in, how the privacy curtain works, and how to clean it properly afterward. If you're deciding between models, there's a comparison table at the bottom too.

What Is a Milking Table?

A milking table is a padded table with a hole or cutout in the surface. The person lying face-down rests through that opening, giving a partner unobstructed access for massage, manual or oral play without either person needing to hold an awkward position or support their own weight.

New to the concept entirely? We have a full deep-dive in our guide to milking tables with extra large openings and what makes the hole shape and size matter more than most people expect. For Reddit-sourced real-world opinions on what buyers actually look for, our milking table Reddit recommendations roundup is worth reading before you buy. This article focuses purely on how to use one once you have it.

Who Is a Milking Table For?

Milking tables are used by couples of all orientations and configurations. Common use cases include:

  • Couples seeking to dabble into the 'Fetish stuff' — lots of our customers see it online, then want to try for themselves.
  • People who want ergonomic, sustainable positioning — no strain on backs, wrists, or necks from awkward angles
  • Those who enjoy extended massage or sensory play — the table holds position so the person on top can relax into the experience
  • BDSM and power exchange dynamics — the setup creates a natural dominant/submissive positioning with the person on top in a passive, receptive role
  • Queer and non-binary couples — the table is gender-neutral and works for any combination of bodies and preferences
Good to know: All milking table models are designed for all bodies, orientations, and use cases — no assumptions about who's using what.

How to Set Up a Milking Table: Step-by-Step

Setup is fast. 'Youll get it up in no time' is the mantra with most of our products. Under 5 minutes your first time, under 90 seconds once you know the table. That said, setup varies slightly depending on which model you have, so it's worth understanding the difference before you start.

Setup Differences by Model

Not all Home in Bold milking tables set up the same way, and the key difference is in the legs:

  • MILKER: CLASSIC: Adjustable height. Eight lockable height positions from 21.7" to 28.3". You manually set the leg height before each session. Slightly more setup time and weigth capacity is a bit lower. But the table is more portable.
  • MILKER: MIDNIGHT, MOO & PRO: Fixed height. The legs unfold and lock at a single position, no pin adjustment needed. This makes setup faster and the frame more rigid under pressure. The trade-off is that the height is set, so the person underneath needs to position themselves accordingly (kneeling, sitting on a low stool, etc).

The fixed-height models tend to feel more stable during intense use precisely because there are no adjustable joints that can flex or loosen over time.

Here's the full setup process for our most popular model, The Milker 'Midnight' or 'MOO':

1

Unfold the table and extend the legs

(Only on the MOO and MIDNIGHT model)

1. Lay the table flat on the floor and open all four legs outward. Each leg clicks into a locked position, give each a firm push until you hear or feel the click. Don't skip this; a partially locked leg is the only real safety issue with milking tables.

2. Push down the corner brackets that connect the leg to the frame.

3. EXTRA SUPPORT: Use the 4 additional brackets and screw them in above the corner brackets using the provided allen key.

2

Set the height for the person underneath (Only on the classic model)

The most common mistake is setting the height for the person on top. The correct approach is the opposite: adjust the legs so the person who will be underneath can kneel, squat, or sit with full upright posture and comfortable arm reach. On the MILKER: CLASSIC, use one of its 8 lockable pin positions. On the MIDNIGHT, MOO, and PRO the height is fixed at 25.5" — position the person underneath accordingly (kneeling works perfectly for most people at this height).

3

Attach the privacy curtain (if using)

On models with a privacy curtain, clip it around the perimeter of the table's side panels before the person below gets in position using the velcro attachments. The curtain drapes to the floor and hides the person underneath entirely. More on this in the privacy curtain section.

4

The person on top lies face-down

They position themselves so the relevant area is over the hole. Arms can rest flat along the sides or be placed in the padded face hole area (on models with a face cradle). The surface is padded so this is genuinely comfortable for extended use, not like lying on a hard floor.

5

Partner positions underneath

They move into position below. The unobstructed underside design (on THE MILKER, MILKER: MOO, and MILKER PRO) means no cross-bars or cables getting in the way. The person below can sit, kneel, or use a low stool for comfort during longer sessions.

Pro tip: Place a waterproof blanket or sheet on and around the table before you start. Home in Bold makes a purpose-built waterproof sex blanket that works perfectly here, cleanup drops from 15 minutes to 30 seconds.

Best Positions for a Milking Table — and Who Needs to Go Where

One of the things that surprises most first-timers: the partner giving stimulation doesn't always need to be underneath the table. Where they position themselves depends entirely on the type of play you're going for. Here's a clear breakdown:

Manual Stimulation (Milking by Hand): Sit Beside the Table

If the stimulation is manual — hands only — the giving partner doesn't need to be underneath at all. They can sit or kneel on one side of the table, reaching through the hole from the side, similar to how you'd milk a cow or goat (yes, really). This is often more comfortable for longer sessions and gives better wrist angle. The person on top lies face-down as normal. This works well on all models.

Note on hole size for manual play: A round circular hole works fine for manual stimulation. If you're unsure which hole shape matters for your use case, our article on milking tables with extra large openings explains exactly why the shape and size affects comfort and positioning range.

Oral Access: Partner Goes Underneath

For oral stimulation, the giving partner does need to be underneath the table, lying on their back or kneeling face-up toward the hole. The person on top positions themselves so the relevant area is centered over the opening. The open underside design on the MIDNIGHT, MOO, and PRO models is specifically built for this, no crossbars or cables blocking the person below.

For Women: Vaginal Stimulation Through the Hole

A woman can absolutely lie on the milking table and receive vaginal or clitoral stimulation through the hole — but this requires a large rectangular opening, not a small round one. The circular hole on the MILKER: CLASSIC is designed primarily for penile access. For women (or anyone wanting broader access), you need the larger rectangular/square opening found on the MILKER: MIDNIGHT, MILKER: MOO, or MILKER PRO — all of which feature a generous rectangular cutout designed for exactly this kind of flexibility.

Classic Position (most common for men)

Person A lies face-down, lower body centered over the hole. Partner kneels or sits underneath facing up. Simple, comfortable, works for most body types. Both hands are free.

Low Stool / Chair for Partner Underneath

For longer sessions, sitting on a low stool underneath is significantly more sustainable than kneeling throughout. A yoga block or camping stool at 4–8 inches works well under the fixed-height models. The MILKER PRO's extra clearance makes this especially comfortable.

Position Quick Reference
  • Manual stimulation: Partner sits beside the table, reaches through the hole from the side. No need to go underneath.
  • Oral access: Partner goes underneath, face-up toward the hole.
  • Women / broad vaginal access: Requires a large rectangular hole (MIDNIGHT, MOO, or PRO models).
  • Partner on low stool underneath: Ergonomic upgrade for extended sessions.
  • Seated on top, straddling: Wider tables only; changes the dynamic significantly.

How the Privacy Curtain Works

The privacy curtain is one of the most underrated features of a milking table and it does two things: creates visual privacy (useful if you share a living space) and adds to the experience for the person on top by removing visual awareness of the person below.

On Home in Bold models with curtains, the curtain attaches via clips or Velcro to the underside perimeter of the table. Once hung, it falls to the floor on all sides. The person underneath gets in position, the curtain goes up, and the person on top lies down, they have no visual of who or what is below.

For discretion: When guests are coming over, you remove the curtain and fold the table flat. It stores under most beds (roughly the size of a folded cot) and there's nothing identifiable about the packaging or the folded table itself. Alternatively, take off the curtain but keep it standing up and toss a towel over the middle hole so it looks like a regular massage table.

Getting the Height Right

Height is the most impactful single variable for comfort, and what's right depends on both the model you have and how the partner below is positioned.

On the MILKER: CLASSIC (adjustable, 21.7"–28.3"), use the pin system to dial in your height before the session. On the MIDNIGHT, MOO, and PRO (fixed at 25.5"), the table height is set — adapt by adjusting what the person underneath sits or kneels on.

Position of Person Below Ideal Table Height Compatible Models
Laying down 24–27 inches All models (fixed models at 25.5" work well)
Kneeling 28–32 inches Classic (pin up), MILKER PRO
Sitting beside the table (manual play) Any height All models, height less critical
Seated on small stool 36–40 inches MILKER PRO only

The fixed-height models (MIDNIGHT, MOO, PRO) may feel more limiting at first, but in practice 25.5" is well-calibrated for laying down or kneeling access (providing the person giving the stimulation is not too tall) which are the most common use positions. The benefit is that no adjustable joints means a noticeably stiffer, more stable surface during use.

Cleanup & Maintenance

This is genuinely one of the areas where Home in Bold milking tables outperform cheaper alternatives. The PU (polyurethane) upholstery is non-porous and liquid-repellent. Which means surface fluids don't absorb into the padding. There's a huge difference in quality here between several brands. Our PU surface is some of the softest yet easily washable materials on the market and has recently been upgraded (2026).

After each use:

  • Wipe the surface with a damp cloth or antibacterial wipe. Our models have a cloth included for cleaning.
  • For deeper cleaning, mild soap and warm water on a soft cloth is sufficient.
  • Avoid alcohol-based cleaners as they can degrade PU upholstery over time.
  • The frame just needs a wipe. The aluminium doesn't corrode or stain.

Storage:

  • Fold the table flat and store it horizontally under the bed or in a wardrobe.
  • Don't store heavy items on top of the folded table long-term. The upholstery can crease.
  • The curtain folds away separately; store it with the table or in the original bag.
Cleanup hack: If you're using accessories or toys alongside the table, laying a waterproof blanket below the table catches anything that misses the table surface entirely. It's the difference between a 1-minute cleanup and a 10-minute one.

Which Milking Table Should You Choose?

Home in Bold offers four milking table models. The biggest decisions are: do you need adjustable height? And do you need a large rectangular hole (for women, or for broader access)? Here's the full breakdown:

*Prices are subject to change.

Model Price Height Hole Type Open Underside Privacy Curtain
MILKER: CLASSIC $319* Adjustable
21.7"–28.3" (8 levels)
Round
MILKER: MIDNIGHT $519 $389* Fixed 25.5" Large rectangular ✓ Almost ✓ Included
MILKER: MOO $529 $389* Fixed 25.5" Large rectangular ✓ Almost ✓ Included
MILKER PRO $1,950 $1,250* Fixed
37.5"
Large rectangular ✓ Yes ✓ Included

For professional use or long sessions

If you're using the table regularly, for extended sessions, or in a professional or semi-professional context, the MILKER PRO is the right investment. It has the highest weight rating, the most clearance underneath, a privacy curtain included as standard, and a frame built for repeated heavy use. The step up in price reflects a step up in rigidity and longevity. For occasional home use it's more than you need, but for anyone using it more than a few times a week it's worth every dollar.

Quick decision rule: First table, apartment use → MILKER: MIDNIGHT (best value, large hole, open underside). Want adjustable height → MILKER: CLASSIC. Want the same as the Midnight with a playful finish → MILKER: MOO. Professional or long sessions → MILKER PRO.

Milking Table FAQs

A milking table is a padded table with a hole in the surface. The person lying face-down rests through the hole, giving a partner underneath unobstructed, hands-free access for massage or sexual stimulation — without either person needing to hold a position or support their weight.
Under 5 minutes for your first time. After that, 60–90 seconds. The legs click open and lock; height pins slide and clip. There are no tools required for any Home in Bold milking table model.
Set the height based on the person who will be underneath, not the person on top. If they're kneeling, 24–28 inches is usually right. If they're sitting on a low stool, 28–32 inches. Adjust before use — it takes 30 seconds and makes a significant comfort difference.
Yes. All Home in Bold milking tables fold flat to roughly the size of a folding cot. The MILKER: CLASSIC and THE MILKER are compact enough to slide under a standard bed. The plain-box packaging means nothing identifying arrives at your door.
Wipe with a damp cloth or antibacterial wipe. The PU upholstery is non-porous so liquids don't soak in. For a deeper clean, mild soap and warm water. Avoid alcohol-based cleaners long-term as they can degrade the surface coating over time.
Yes — a woman can lie on the table and receive vaginal or clitoral stimulation through the hole. However, this requires a large rectangular opening, not a small round one. The MILKER: CLASSIC's circular hole is primarily sized for penile access. For women (or anyone wanting broader, more flexible access), choose the MILKER: MIDNIGHT, MILKER: MOO, or MILKER PRO, all of which have a generous rectangular cutout designed for exactly this use.
No — it depends on the type of stimulation. For manual stimulation, the giving partner can sit or kneel beside the table and reach through the hole from the side (similar to how you'd milk a cow or goat). This is often more comfortable for longer sessions and gives a better wrist angle. For oral stimulation, the giving partner does need to go underneath, lying or kneeling face-up toward the hole.
The main differences are height and hole shape. The CLASSIC has adjustable height (8 positions from 21.7" to 28.3") and a round hole. The MIDNIGHT and MOO have a fixed height of 25.5" — which makes the frame more rigid and stable since there are no adjustable joints — plus a larger rectangular hole that works for a wider range of bodies and use cases. The fixed-height models also have a fully open underside with no crossbars.
The MILKER: CLASSIC is rated up to 220 lbs. The frame on the MIDNIGHT, MOO, and PRO is engineered to 2.5× the strength of a standard massage table — check the individual product pages for exact rated capacities. The MILKER PRO has the highest load rating in the range.
Yes. A standard massage table with a face hole is designed only for the face cradle. A milking table has a larger, centrally-positioned hole and an open underside with no crossbars or cables — specifically engineered for below-table or beside-table access. A regular massage table has structural supports under the surface that block the space below.
